![]() We’ve seen it on patios, decks, and pergolas. This wasn’t the first outdoor dream-space we’ve seen invaded by the sun. Solar Screens Give Us Back the Summer We’ve Been Hoping For The turnaround on Solar Screens is typically 7-10 business days. And because it’s such an open space, it was constantly being flooded by sunlight which made it hard for everyone to enjoy the veranda together, much less use it for entertaining. How long does it take for the Solar Screens to be manufactured and installed onto my house? Microban antimicrobial protection is infused into SunTex fabrics to inhibit the growth of bacteria, mold, and mildew. All Exterior Sun Control fabrics are GREENGUARD certified. GREENGUARD tests products' chemical emissions by evaluating over 75,000 chemicals, including volatile organic compounds, carcinogens and reproductive toxins. GREENGUARD is an indoor air quality certification program for low emitting products. In general, the UV blockage percentage will be the reciprocal of the openness factor. UV blockage depends on the fabric's weave and openness. How much ultraviolet light do Solar Screens block? What color Solar Screen is more effective for heat reduction?Īll colors provide significant heat reduction when installed on the exterior but dark colors are better at reducing glare and improving outward visibility. Light through the Solar Screen is not tinted, but it is reduced in volume, allowing good light with reduced glare. While UV blockage is 65% to 90%, the Visual Transmittance is 14% to 40% depending on the screening fabric selected. How much will Solar Screens darken the interior? Yes, although windows and doors are kept cleaner with the Solar Screens installed, they are removable just like insect screening for ease in washing screens and window glass. Can Solar Screens be removed to clean the windows? However, if passive solar heat gain is desired in the winter months the screens can be removed and stored until springtime. To protect carpets, drapes and furniture from damaging UV rays, the Solar Screens should remain in place even during cooler months. Should Solar Screens be removed in the winter? The combination of light-colored interior shades and dark exterior screens will provide optimum results. Yes, along with the heat that is absorbed by the drapes/blinds, they are also subject to UV damage. If I have reflective light-colored drapes or blinds, are Solar Screens still beneficial? As the glass filters sunlight through the tint, it will maintain heat, which dissipates into the house, making solar screens more effective than glass tinting for energy savings. Solar Screens reduce the volume of light without filtering. Glass tinting filters the light along with the UV rays. How do Solar Screens compare to glass tinting? Studies have shown that shaded windows can save up to 25% of the cost of air conditioning when compared to unshaded windows. Many Solar Screen payback period estimates fall between two and three cooling seasons. What should be the payback period from utility savings after installing Solar Screens? All shapes and sizes of windows can be shaded with solar screen products including rakes, octagons, circles, etc. Can Solar Screens be installed over different shapes of windows? In most cases, plants do better with shading than without but will require some amounts of direct sunlight. ![]() Shading reduces yellowing and water loss. SunTex: Heavy-duty mesh is tear and puncture resistant. Lighted interiors allow inward visibility at night, while sunlight during the daytime diminishes inward visibility, offering more privacy. Visibility through Solar Screens depends on light location. Solar screens can provide daytime privacy. Outward visibility remains good through exterior sun control. From the outside, solar screening offers a uniform look to windows and doors, providing a more aesthetically pleasing overall look to home and building exteriors than regular insect screening. Solar Screening is available in a wider range of colors than regular insect screening. ![]() Does Solar Screening look like standard insect screening? These products protect against insects and can replace regular insect screening on windows, doors and porches. How are Solar Screens at insect protection? Do Solar Screens block airflow?Įxterior sun control products still allow good airflow. Yes, Austin Window Screens offers a 10 year warranty on Exterior Solar Screen Products. Yes, they only need an occasional cleaning with mild soap and water. This results in a more comfortable indoor temperature, more efficient air conditioning and ultimately energy conservation. Exterior Solar Screens absorb and dissipate a large percentage of solar heat and glare before it reaches windows and doors.

These interaction properties are predicted to give rise to a vortex lattice structure that can follow a triangular pattern 30, 34, as is typical for non-dipolar BECs 11, or a square lattice for attractive or zero contact interactions 36, 37, 38 when the DDI is isotropic (dipoles aligned with the rotation axis). For vortex pairs, the anisotropic DDI is expected to alter the lifetime and dynamics 33, 35 and can even suppress vortex–antivortex annihilation 33. For instance, theoretical works predict single vortices to exhibit an elliptic-shaped core for a quasi-2D setting with in-plane dipole orientation 30, 31, 32, 33 or the presence of density oscillations around the vortex core induced by the roton minimum in the dispersion relation 30, 31, 32, 33, 34. ![]() The dipolar interaction is predicted to also intimately change the properties of vortices in quantum gases 29. This intriguing platform provided the key to observe, for example, extended Bose–Hubbard dynamics 20, roton excitations 21, 22, 23, the quantum version of the Rosensweig instability 24 and supersolid states of matter 25, 26, 27, 28, and is foreseen to host novel phenomena for quantum simulation and metrology 18, 19. Such a system, providing a quantum analogue of classical ferrofluids, enables access to the physics of dipolar BECs, in which atoms feature a strong long-range anisotropic dipole–dipole interaction (DDI) 18, 19 on top of the traditional contact-type isotropic one. Recently, a new class of ultracold quantum gases are being created in various laboratories around the world, using strongly magnetic lanthanide atoms 16, 17. ![]() Moreover, vortices play a fundamental role in the description of the Berezinskii–Kosterlitz–Thouless transition in two-dimensional (2D) systems 12, as well as in the evolution of quantum turbulence 13, 14, and have been observed in interacting Fermi gases along the Bose-Einstein condensate to Bardeen-Cooper-Schrieffer crossover 8, 15. In contact-interacting BECs, vortical singularities have been observed experimentally in the form of single vortices 5, 6, vortex–antivortex pairs 7, solitonic vortices 8, 9, vortex rings 10 and vortex lattices 6, 11 using a number of different techniques. It can be understood as a type of topologically protected singularity with a 2π phase winding that preserves the single-valuedness of the superfluid wave function and the irrotational nature of its velocity field. In the quantum realm, a quantized vortex may emerge as a unique response of a superfluid to rotation. Their classical counterparts have as well fascinated scientists from different epochs and fields as vortices are found in many scales of physical systems, from tornadoes in the atmosphere to ferrohydrodynamics. Their very existence sets a unifying concept encompassing a variety of quantum fluids from liquid helium 1 to the core of neutron stars 2 and from superconductors 3 to quantum fluids of light 4. Since the first experiments on gaseous Bose–Einstein condensates (BECs), the observation of quantized vortices has been considered the most fundamental and defining signature of the superfluid nature of such systems. ![]() Most 15 month olds who are taking 2 naps per day sleep best with about 3.25 hours of awake time before the first nap and about 3.75 hours of awake time before their afternoon nap. Those 15 month olds who have transitioned to a 1-nap schedule will need between 5 and 5.5 hours of awake time before their nap in order to be tired but not too tired. ![]() Note: Sleep needs vary by child and this chart should be viewed as an example. Electronic devices such as TVs, tablets, and phones emit blue light, which interferes with melatonin production, making it difficult to fall asleep. Pediatric sleep and baby development experts also recommend avoiding screen time in the hour before bed. Start your child’s day with bright light upon waking (natural light is best), and get outside during the day when possible. To help your child get on a more predictable schedule, wake them within 30 minutes of your desired wake-up time every day (even after a rough night), and be intentional about light exposure. Light entering your child’s eyes sets their circadian rhythm, or body clock, signaling their body to decrease melatonin levels. If your child is struggling to fall asleep at nighttime or waking up early, ill-timed exposure to light could be to blame. It can take a few weeks for the remaining nap to lengthen, so hang in there! Sleep fact for 15 month olds When total daytime sleep is less than ideal (2 - 3 hours), it’s best to offer an early bedtime (but no earlier than 12 hours before your desired morning wake-up time). As children drop the second nap, some will sleep less than the recommended 2 - 3 hours during the remaining nap. It’s not uncommon for 15 month olds to be a bit overtired during the transition from 2 naps to just 1 nap per day. Keeping an eye on your toddler's mood and energy levels is just as important as monitoring their sleep totals to ensure they're getting the rest they need. ![]() Don't get bogged down by sticking to a specific sleep hour - the recommended hours are just that, recommendations. However there is a range of what's considered normal and appropriate and each child has their own sleep needs. Your child’s schedule may vary, and that is normal.Īt this age, we recommend aiming for about 13 hours of total sleep over a 24-hour period, with a minimum of 11 hours at night, and 2 - 3 hours during the day, split between 1 or 2 naps. However, please note there is a range of normal as some children have lower or higher sleep needs. The recommendations listed below represent the average amount of sleep typically needed at this age. ![]() Note that Preview, like Adobe Reader, is not a PDF creation tool. Here was a pretty cool little deal in the Historic Districts in Dallas. If Jeldwen says 6 hours a piece, they aren't kidding. Wood windows are tricky and have to be exactly right to work correctly. If you read the reviews and blogs you'll quickly see that the most important factor in any wood window job is the installation itself. ![]() Painting is required on the solid wood units but the aluminum or vinyl clad type wood windows are maintenance free. They are also the primary product in Highland Park for the same reason. There are quite a few of both here in Dallas. These are required in Historic Districts and usually on the front of homes in the Conservation Districts. The look is one of a kind but it is a bit pricey. Labor can be one of the biggest variables. Options, glass package, trims and sizings will all be variables that affect the cost. Builders grade type wood windows are in the $500 to $700. Jeldwen recommends 6 man hours per window, and the average sized window is $600 to $900 depending on the options. Wood windows are very labor intensive and require a great deal of wood trim both inside and out. I know that's a shocker but perhaps the rest of the page will explain the cost. For the purpose of budgeting I tell people to plan on $1200 to $1500 per window. The higher end ones are much better but significantly more costly. The cheap ones are really junky and won't last for very long. Most manufacturers have several grades and models of wood windows. Well we just stumbled onto the first wood window bump in the road. If you really like the true divided lite look that comes from the wood sticking out from the surface of the glass and want it bad enough to pay the extra bucks to get it. Living in a Conservation District you may have to use wood on the front of the home only. Living in a historical district means you have to use wood. The need for them is usually one of a few things. They are thick and heavy and beautiful and there is no other look like them. Wood windows are a little complicated so I'll try to cover a few things. Wood Windows in Dallas and the things you should really know Moreover, blind ambition is not always mentally or physically healthy. Since a person may be too focused on reaching their destination, they may experience inattentional blindness to the beauty of the journey along the way. Blind ambition can make it difficult to see those around you and understand how you affect others or the world. The focus of healthy ambition should generally be on you and the lives you touch. Life is not usually about arbitrary achievements it is more often about changing, learning, and making a difference in the world around you. If chasing your ultimate goal makes you miserable, it may be time for a change. Ideally, your career and your dreams should bring you happiness. Blind ambition, on the other hand, is typically nothing but a wild race toward the result, regardless of the events and experiences along the way. Everyone generally has life goals and dreams they want to fulfill, and how you fulfill those desires is often as important as reaching the goals themselves.Īmbition may be at the heart of every life journey, and there can be a lot to learn as you work toward your goals. ![]() The difference between ambition and blind ambition can be how you get from point A to B. Getty/Halfpoint Images The Difference Between Ambition And Blind Ambition It can create confusion, support bad choices, and make the process of achieving an exercise in irrational behavior. To succeed and achieve your dreams on your terms, it can be important to keep your eyes open and your head clear.īlind ambition can be defined as desire without direction, clarity, and preparation. When you're working toward achieving your goals, life can be full of choices that may bring you closer to or farther from your goals. That may be why those who work toward a goal with blind ambition can sometimes be their own worst enemy. For example, someone with blind ambition may turn a blind eye to deceit, or they might stop taking care of themselves to reach a goal. But what does that mean?Īs individuals strive to succeed, there may be many times when their desire to achieve can override their sense of right and wrong. If ambition generally consists of desire, drive, and focus, then blind ambition can involve blind desire, drive, and focus. When someone is ambitious, they tend to do what it takes to achieve. Ambition can also be about energy and focused will. ![]() It often takes a bit more than desire or necessity to take on an ambitious goal, and for many people, the word "ambition" can have a broader meaning. If you strive to achieve power, fame, wealth, or honor, people may be likely to consider you ambitious. On the road to success, ambition can help you through the rough patches and keep you focused on the goal ahead. Without ambition, there may be no aspiration to achieve, so your dreams may never lift off the ground. It is generally viewed as the desire to achieve a goal that requires work, focus, and determination. What Does Ambition Mean?Īmbition can drive you toward success. ![]() Now that’s what I call a game changer!
